prompts for 2025
I want to spend 2025 rediscovering romance. I’ve somehow been severed from it, detached like an almost broken bobble head finally broken. My brain has been rolling - I can see it down the street. I need to retrace my steps to find it, dig deep into the mind cavity and find some missing pieces. Something has been stolen from all of us - repeatedly - over the last five years. It’s time I start writing about midnight rain showers and Sunday naps on our couch. I need to archive the pleasure just as much as the pain. I need to notice life a little more, remind myself - and others - why we believe so much in this thing that we keep dying for.
Here are 12 prompts for 2025, based on my need to re-ignite my love of living. You may all use them if you’d like:
January - Make a playlist based on what it feels like to be free. Listen to it and write about the same topic.
February - What does abundance look like? Take photos to accompany your writing.
March - Where do you seek refuge? Music and/or photos are encouraged.
April - Where do you go when it rains?
May - What makes your heart flutter? Can be a list or a poem.
June - Where does your creativity come from? List 10 artistic inspirations - films, music, your childhood piano teacher, etc.
July - What does summer do for your body? Reflect on a memory or tell a new story.
August - What does your perfect day look like?
September - Tell us about what you want to bring into the new season (or new yr) and what you want to let go.
October - Your top 10 list of fall movies + what they do for you. And a playlist.
November - Where does comfort live? Use all the senses.
December - Write new prompts (if you’d like).
This isn’t to distract you from our political reality or global atrocity or multiple ongoing genocides. Instead, it’s to root you in yourself and your life so you are reminded that we fight for each other because we have to hold all the complexity - or try to, at least.
Aaaaand before we end the year, please directly support my friend’s family, who are currently in Sudan or are trying to leave the current war, which is a massive and devastating humanitarian crisis. You can read more via this GoFundMe that we started. Please share + donate!
Happy holidays and stay safe
xoxo

These are beautiful. Thank you. I've also been feeling deeply disconnected from 'romance,' pleasure, eros, sensuality, trying to figure out how to disentangle those while also giving myself space to explore them. I'm feeling into that growth edge right now. Many blessings in your own explorations of the heart.
